A loop of Vestmosen, the biggest lake in the wetland park on Copenhagen's north-west edge, with reeds, birdlife and big skies.
Utterslev Mose is a chain of shallow lakes and reed beds on the border between Copenhagen and Gladsaxe, and one of the best places in the city to see water birds. This route circles Vestmosen, the westernmost and largest of the lakes, on the gravel and asphalt paths around its shore.
It feels a long way from the centre, with reeds, willows and open water on one side. The loop is short, but paths continue east around Midtmosen and Østmosen if you want to explore further.
Highlights
- Reed beds and water birds
- Open views across Vestmosen
- Quiet early mornings
Practical notes
- Part of the north side runs next to a road.
- Some paths are unlit: bring a headlamp in winter.
- Mosquitoes on still summer evenings.
