One of the oldest mass-participation runs in the world: a 13.3 km figure of eight through the deer park of Dyrehaven, past the Hermitage hunting lodge.
Eremitageløbet, the Hermitage Run, reached its 57th edition in 2026 and is a fixture of the Danish running calendar. Since 1983 the course has been 13.3 km, laid out as a figure of eight so that runners pass the white Hermitage hunting lodge on its hill twice.
The course runs on the gravel roads and forest tracks of Dyrehaven, the royal deer park north of Copenhagen and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is hilly by Danish standards, with long gentle climbs rather than steep ones, and the open plain around the Hermitage is famously windy.
The race is organised and owned by two Copenhagen clubs, Københavns Idræts Forening (KIF) and Københavns Skiklub. The organisers have spoken of around 18,000 participants for the 2026 edition.
